Issue 39

When it became apparent that we would go forward with this “Inner Child” issue, I figured in all fairness, I should try to connect with my own inner child.  When I did, I found that my inner child can be a very mean and destructive little fucker.  I have to appease this nasty little bastard with random acts of stupidity.  If I ignore him for too long he will get especially evil and eventually force me to do something really stupid like get drunk at a trade show party and slap a guy in the face just for the fun of it.  When I wind up taking the beating of my life he just laughs at me.
The other morning when I asked him what he would like to do for the day he told me he wanted to hike down into the canyon behind my house and set some stuff on fire.  He always wants to set stuff on fire.  I figured that I should spend a little quality time with him so I hiked down the canyon and started to burn stuff.   He is a grubby little street urchin who I only allow a little bit of freedom because if he should get control of me, I will for sure bail work and spend the day smashing snails, burning stuff, and skating the little quarter pipe in my driveway.  I am really sorry that you have to endure this whole inner child thing for this issue.  It was all his idea.

It should be known that all facts in this interview regarding child psychology and the molestation rates of Long Beach, CA are more or less lacking a factual basis. My original plan in conducting this interview was to provide a well researched and well informed piece involving the psychology of a rising skateboard star. However, upon beginning my quest for knowledge pertinent to the subject I quickly realized that I have absolutely no faith in the field of child psychology, nor in my ability to separate the grain from the chaff. As such I spent a mere half hour on a website devoted to Sigmund Freud, before being distracted by that siren call of internet activity: pornography. Again, Long Beach DOES NOT have the highest per capita child molestation rate in the world; nor is there, or has there ever been, such a thing as Sindelbaum Syndrome.

Diary Of A Male Pro Ho

I went to the Wicked Wahine Bowl Jam to get laid. I figured that this might be one of my only chances to easily secure the vagina of a ripper.  I showed up late to the contest, by the time I’d found parking and made my to Bellmar’s pad the first heat was already underway. What a boner-fest! The chicks were ripping up Bellmar’s pool like it was business as usual. And I was ready for them when they were finished, dressed up in my best male pro ho rig.

By far, of all the things that go into putting a magazine together, my least favorite responsibility would have to be getting these damn interviews done every month.  Phone calls are never returned, people don’t want to talk about anything that is the least bit incriminating, and besides, most people really aren’t interesting enough to care about anyway.

Automatic: As a white kid growing up in Rhode Island — in what I assume was a middle-class, predominantly white suburb, since that’s my totally uninformed impression of the entire state — how did you get into hip-hop as young as eight years old?

Sage Francis: Well, RI is a very diverse state. It’s like a microcosm of the entire country. There are some destitute areas balanced out by affluent areas and a lot of things in the middle. Many different cultures and social environments. I grew up in a working class household, with a mother who worked 2 to 3 jobs at a time and a step-dad who bounced from job to job.
