This story took place on one of the first stops on our world premiere tour for the new Birdhouse video, “The Beginning”. The crew consisted of myself, Willy Santos, Nate Lacoste (newest Birdhouse rider from Canada), Figgy, Jon Dickson, David Loy, Ghost, Randy Ploesser, and flow rider Chris Gregson. This was Nate’s first trip with the Birdhouse Team. After a long drive through the desert we met up with Matt Ball and Sean Eaton in Vegas. After the video we went out to celebrate. David was pulling his usual stuff and messing with random old people on the dance floor. We all had some drinks and then I decided to head back to the hotel with the younger guys. Everyone else went out to get even more fucked up. When I woke up the next morning I did my daily task of rounding up the team. I grabbed Figgy, Loy, Dickson And Gregson. I walked by Randy’s room and the door was wide open and he was passed out on the bed. I tried to wake him up but he was out cold. I then called Eaton and found out that Ball was in jail. I got a hold of Ghost. Jon and I go to Nate’s room and start banging on the door. He didn’t answer. I went back to Randy’s room and I’m finally able to wake him from his drunken stupor. Randy informs me that he thinks that Nate may still be at the bar. Randy also informs me that our filmer Kevin punched a slot machine the night before and almost joined Matt in jail. I go to the front desk and try and call Nate’s room. I got no answer, but I did find a $60 bar tab charged to the room. At this point I have no clue where Nate is. For all I know, he could be passed out on the streets, he could be with Matt in jail. Did I mention that he doesn’t have a cell phone? Which is awesome for a team manager trying to do his job. One last time I went to his room and banged on the door for 5 minutes. Still no answer so I get everyone else into the van and start driving away. We decided to stop and get food pretty close to the hotel. At this point I am over Nate, I figured if he was in jail he would get deported back to Canada or something. I decided to give him one last chance so we went back to the hotel to see if he wandered back. Figgy goes to his room and while I’m sitting in the van, Nate comes strolling over. He was passed out in his room the whole time. Luckily for Nate he is amazing on a skateboard and a pretty sick guy
